• Index law multiplication - add the powers
• index law division - subtract powers
• Index law - power of power - brackets mean multiply
• a reciprocal is 2 factors that multiply together to give a total of 1 ( swap the numerator and denominator )
• if index law is negative, find reciprocal
• negative index law = 2 to power of -3, change into positive then write as fraction , 2 to power of 3 = 8 = 8/1, then swap numbers around to make it negative (reciprocal)
• index law - power half = square root

  9 to the power half (1/2) = 3

  27 to the power of cube root (1/3) = 3
