  • What is the episodic memory?
    > stores information about experiences or events that occur at a specific time
    > autobiographical in nature
    > 'mental diary'
    > linked to frontal lobe and hippocampus
    > dependant on time referencing
    > dependant on context (e.g. sounds, smells)
    > unlikely to operate without semantic memory
    > transformation during retrieval (memory trace may change from its original form)

    > 'mental encyclopaedia'
    > not time specific
    > not dependant on context
    > linked to temporal lobe
    > works independently of episodic memory
