  owned or funded by the government, local or national. They aim to provide a service to the public, use funding appropriately, and maintain best quality service.

• Transport principles- air, sea, bus, coach. role- to provide transport between destinations.
• Transport hubs and gateways- airports, rail and coach. Role- to provide access for passengers to transportation products and service
• Interrelationships- defines as organizations that work together to benefit them both
• Interdependencies- defined as organizations that rely on each other to enable them to provide a better product or service to the customer
• Vertical integration- when an organization buys or merges with another organization of a different type to enable it to control more sectors of the market
