response to exercise

    Cards (6)

    • when we exercise
the body has to adapt to meet the increased demand for oxygen
    • if the demand is not met
      it will cause anaerobic respiration
    • this will cause
lactic acid to build up and causes muscle fatigue and creates oxygen debt
    • what are the ways to repay the oxygen debt
increasing heart rate --> increases rate of blood flow around the body
increasing breath rate --> increases the rate of gas exchange in the lungs
increasing breathing volume --> increases the rate of gas exchange in the lungs
    • oxygen debt
the amount of oxygen the body needs after exercise to oxidise the lactic acid into carbon dioxide and water and remove it from our cells
    • to repay oxygen debt and remove co2
heart rate and breathing rate must stay high for some time after exercise
