when we
exercise
the body has to
adapt
to meet the increased demand for
oxygen
if the demand is not met
it will cause
anaerobic respiration
this will cause
lactic acid
to build up and causes muscle fatigue and creates
oxygen debt
what are the ways to repay the oxygen debt
increasing heart rate
--> increases rate of blood flow around the body
increasing breath rate
--> increases the rate of gas exchange in the lungs
increasing breathing volume
--> increases the rate of gas exchange in the lungs
oxygen debt
the amount of oxygen the body needs after exercise to oxidise the
lactic acid
into
carbon dioxide
and water and remove it from our cells
to repay oxygen debt and remove co2
heart rate
and breathing rate must stay high for some time after exercise
