The Prologue

• “Two households, both alike in dignity”

  -          Montagues and Capulets have similarities but still fight (same class)
• “Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean”

  -          Sudden rebirth of conflict

  -          Blame, guilt, shameful, behave
• “Forth the fatal loins of these two foes”

  -          Oxymoron, death and foes = enemies
• The prologue tells us everything that weapons in the play to prove that you cannot avoid fate, also to remind the audience it’s a tragedy
