    • Production of sounds (vocal chords) and ability to smell (olfactory receptors inside the nasal cavity)

    • Respiratory tracts works in two ways: 
    • It contains cilia which allows/pushes mucus outward so that it could transport along with them the microorganisms outside your body (coughing reflex)
    • Act as a protectant by Type III Pneumocytes that secretes alveolar macrophages that ingest or phagocytize the bacteria that goes inside your alveoli
