each kidney contains appox 1 mill nephrons acting in parralel to make urine
each nephron creates a cell + protein free filtrate from blood
from that filtrate, it recovers chems the body needs while also secreting into that filtrate selected chems that the body needs to get rid of
Collecting Ducts
nearby nephrons empty their processed filtrate into one of the thousands of collecting ducts, which convey this fluid, now urine, into the renal pelvis
Renal Corpuscle
each renal corpuscle consists of a tuft of capillaries = glomerulus + a hollow cupped structure = glomerular capsule
the glomerular capsule is continous w its renal tubule + completely surrounds the glomerulus
