the process of changing the shape of the lens to focus on near or distant objects
  • the process of changing the shape of the lens to focus on near or distant objects.
    accommodation
  • what happens in the eye when we focus on near objects?
    ciliary muscles contract,
    suspensory ligaments loosen,
lens is thicker and refracts light rays more strongly.
  • what happens when the eyes focus on far objects?
    ciliary muscles relax,
    suspensory ligaments are pulled tight,
lens is then pulled thin and only slightly refracts light rays.
  • Can you explain what happens when someone has a problem seeing objects far away?
the distance between the lens and retina is too large,
making the light focus in front of the retina,
this can be corrected using a divergent lens.
