• Causes

  Gold prospectors in montana began to use the bozeman trail, was a shortcut through the sacred land of lakota sioux tribe.

  Governent refused to stop migrants using the trail

  Sioux leader, red cloud saw what happened to little crow and didnt trust the government, he instead chose to fight them
• events

  led a war against the government

  joined by crazy horse and sitting bull

  for 2 years, 3000 natives attacked us solidrs along the the bozeman trail. 1866 killed a group of soliders led by captain fetterman in an ambush. that became known as the fetterman trap
• consequences

  government realised fighting with the natives got them no where.

  in 1868 the second fort laramie treaty was signed and the government agreed to close the bozemen trail

  red cloud moved to a new reservation

  however sitting bull and crazy house refused to sign it
