  -Use quotes to guide you-Two paragraphs – one quote for each-Knowledge is key – more detailed knowledge = higher marks-Highest answers will measure how convincing it is

  Q2) Explain what was important about… (8 marks)

  -Remember to discuss the consequences. If something was important, it had IMPACT.-Use ‘in this period’ to show you know about the time period-Two paragraphs fully explained

  -Focus should be on cause and consequence-Fully explain Elizabeth’s actions in dealing with this and what it led to

  -Phrases like ‘as a result, this led to, this meant that’ are particularly useful in this question

• What phrases should I use?

  Level 1 language – identified a factor

  Level 2 language – ‘For example’ or ‘In this period’

  Level 3 language – ‘This meant that’, ‘As a result’, ‘This led to’

  Level 4 language – ‘Had it not been for’, ‘This factor is more important than ……. Because
