• Process 


  • Cut a thin 1 cell layer of onion skin using scalpels and tweezers
  • Take a drop of iodine solution and put it on the onion cells - makes them more visible under the microscope
  • Place a cover slip on top and under the lenses on the stage
  • Turn the light on or position a mirror so it reflects the light to shine onto the onion to make it visible
  • Start with the shortest objective lens/lowest magnification - gives the highest field of view
  • Make it in focus using the corse and fine focus knob and make it a higher mag
• What does the coarse focus wheel do

  move the lens/stage up and down rapidly
• what does the fine focus wheel do

  move the stage up and down slightly for minor adjustments
