  • Although every performer behaves different, there are UNWRITTEN rules which each player must follow ie play fair and respect each other
• What is sportsmanship?


  • Play fair, respect , be gracious no matter the outcome
  • Ways sportsman ship are encouraged - shake hands at the end of a match, respect refs decision/dont argue, show tolerence for the opposition
• What is gamesmanship?


  • Strategic manipulation to mess with the opposition
  • ie timewasting by tying shoe lace
  • This breaks the play and gets player out of rhythm
• How is cheating in sport done

  • PEDs
  • Tampered equipment
  • faking injury
• What is the contract to compete?

  • Agreement that in sport, all players try to win, play within the rules, offer the opposition a fair chance to win
