    • Thickens blood - HA and strokes
  • What is blood doping process?
    • performer removes blood from their body many weeks before performing
    • They freeze the blood
    • Their body then produces more blood, meaning more RBC are produced to replace what was taken out
    • 1-2 days before competing, the frozen blood thaws and is injected back into the performers body - they now have much more RBC and they can carry more oxygenated blood

    - have bad side effects may even result in death
    - with evolving technology, your more likely to get caught - could lead to getting banned

    - give the sport a bad rep as most participants at elite level are known for taking PEDs
    - may loose funds due to disengagement from viewers and sponsers
