Streaming and setting

• If w.c students labelled as 'thick' might be placed in lower sets.
• Higher sets tend to have better environments for learning and the lesson often allow students to stretch themselves.
• streaming can be really good way to enable students to learn best as there are different focuses based on sets
• EVALUATION

  • segregates the smarter students to the less smart students
  • suggests lower sets have worse environments for learning
  • might be more likely to go against the self fulfilling prophecy so work goes into the higher sets
