  • Addison’s Disease
    ■ Result of a generalized hyposecretion of all the adrenal cortex hormones and deficient levels of glucocorticoids
    ■ Characterized as a peculiar bronze tone of the skin, which can resemble a suntan
    ■ Causes the muscles to become weak
  • Hyperaldosteronism
    ■ Caused by a hyperactivity of the outermost adrenal cortical area
  • Cushing’s Syndrome
    ■ When the tumor is in the middle of cortical area o the patient has been receiving pharmacological doses of glucocorticoids to counteract inflammatory disease
    ■ Swollen moon face & buffalo hump — caused by excessive glucocorticoids
  • Masculinization
    ■ Hypersecretion of the sex hormones regardless of sex
    ■ A beard develops, and a masculine pattern of body hair distribution occurs
