  • Act 2, Scene 2: Summary
    This is a very brief scene and its purpose is to shortcut the need to explain the celebratory context for the scene that follows.
  • Celebrations
    • A herald declares that Othello has granted an evening of celebration for the destruction of the Turkish fleet and for his own marriage.
  • Tragedy
    • In terms of the tragedy, it is ominous that a celebration over a marriage is so closely linked to success in war.
    • This may prefigure the tragic events that follow.
