  ● Weaning (Pag-aawat) represents the first conflict between desire and reality since the child needs to eat solid food or start drinking in a cup.

  ● Failure to wean = Fixation in the Oral Stage

  ○ Child is dominated by feelings of dependency and hopelessness

  ○ Preoccupied with talking, eating, smoking, nail biting, etc.
