  • Mineral Deposits
    ○ Natural concentration of minerals in the earth’s crust. These are aggregates of minerals and/or groups of minerals in an unusually high concentration.
  • Ore Deposit
    ○ A mineral deposit that has high enough grades of metal that make it valuable to mine.
    Ore: Naturally occurring minerals that contain a valuable constituent such as metal. It is surrounded by nonvaluable materials called gangue.
  • Rock
    ○ A naturally occurring solid mixture of one or more minerals or organic matter.
  • Gemstone
    ○ A hard colorful mineral with a brilliant or glassy luster. Usually very rare.
