    • To be revelant to modern society and make awareness for teenagers mental health.
  • In the orginal staging conditions describe to me three descriptions of what the set was like?
    • Mostly monochrome (shades of grey) = Grace's world drained in colour.
    • minimalistic= e.g sofa for lounge moved by chorus. Highlights intentionally how the set is focusing on the things you need which reduces clutter.

    • For example the teddy bear is minimalistic but significant. It indicates many aspects of Grace's character but deeply defines that Grace's teddy bear could help her with her anxiety.

    • It starts off with a white/warm glow however as Grace's character grows colder it loses that Glow.

    • The colour green is used Sparingly on page 35= hunting section.

    • Square box Gobo is used each time she enters it is used on a smaller scale.

    • The use of torches through a lycra screen=IT's eyes= an omnious effect.

    • Symbolises typical teenage music
    • However the lyric (I'm coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine.) highlights Graces IT really trying to come out and harm her in a way.
  • Are the costumes non naturalistic or naturalistic?
    • Costumes were naturalistic to convey characters living in contemporary (modern day).
  • Why were Grace and Sam the only two characters with coloured costumes?

    • Impactful for Grace to start of with colour however it gradually decreased due to the IT gradually tearing those bright colours away from Grace.
    • It was important for Sam to have colour because it symbolises how they were the only colour in Grace's world. However the colour also represents Sams non binary character.
  • Was the IT a linear structured play or a non-Linear structured play?

    • The It was performed in a non linear structured play this means there was no beginning, middle or end. It jumps around
  • Does an episodic structure contain lots of short or lots of long scenes?

    Episodic structure contains lots of short scenes, which jumps location and time.
  • What does story theatre mean? Does it flow? 

    • Story theatre uses little set and props and allows the story to flow.

    • This allows the audience to decide which version they must trust.
  • Why is Grace's life viewed through Cameras in a documentary way?
    • reports and media
    • interweaving events in Grace's life
    • direct address commentating on Grace's life.
    • All of these events work together to build tension through the style of the play.
  • Why is naration and story telling used a lot in the IT?

    • Naration and story telling is used to move us through different locations and time periods. This means no long time periods meaning the play can flow and it builds tension more effectively.
  • What has realism got to do with IT?
    A lot of characters use realism as it is more truthful and impactful towards the audience.
