  • Advantages:
    • Shows that quality has been approved by an independent body - gives customers reassurance.
    • A certain level of quality is guaranteed to customers giving them confidence to buy.
    • It can be used as a marketing tool.
    • Higher prices could be charged.
    • Less waste and less complaints and returns.
    • Could lead to more/repeat sales gives a competitive advantage.
  • Disadvantages:
    • Can be expensive to go through the process of achieving the standard.
    • Time consuming to go through the process.
    • Detailed checks and paperwork must be carried out and kept.
