• plato thought there were two spheres of reality:

  • the imperfect world, in which humans live and have only a partial understanding of reality and truth
  • the world of forms
• forms:

  refers to plato's theory that everything in the physical universe is a particular and imperfect instance of a perfect idea in the metaphysical world of forms
• the body perishes at death but the soul is immortal and after death is returned to the world of forms before experiencing reincarnation
• reincarnation= the belief that at death, the soul is separated from the body and is 're-enfleshed' into another body
