Feminist view

• What is a criticism of liberal feminists view of the family?


  They overstate the lack of progress made (women still have the triple shift) and fail to challenge underlying causes of women's oppression (Marxist and Radical)
• What do radical feminists believe about the family structure?


  It should be abolished and their needs to be a system of separatism.
• Evaluation of radical feminists-

  -Sommerville- argues that radical feminists fail to see the improvements that have been made to women's experiences if the family.
• Liberal feminist view-


  Families are slowly becoming more equal through changes in law and social attitudes e.g. more gender neutral socialisation

  Other feminists believes focus on the experience if women in a nuclear family. However, not all families are nuclear so not all women will experience the same family life.

  Neglects the fact that many women do share the same experiences e.g. all face the risk of DV

  -see the family as a tool of capitalism

  -women reproduce the workforce

  Women no longer are a reserve labour force as they have equal rights at work and are as likely as men to be the bread winner
