    Child liberationist view- believe that childhood has become oppressive with adults using the excuse of protection to limit children's activities.

    1. Recourses- children's access to earning money has been limited so dependent on adults
    2. Space- children's movement in western societies is highly regulated e.g. specific areas where they're not allowed to play
    3. Time- children have rather strict daily routines especially in term time
    4. Bodies- adults exercise control over children's bodies

    -Legal- work restrictions, compulsory education and safeguarding in schools.
    -Rights of the child- UN rights has allowed for life, survival and development, protection from violence and abuse
    -Protections and welfare services- UK has a minister for children and family social services
    -Child-centeredness- quality over quantity so people have less children to ensure they have the best lives.
  • Conflict view-

    Children still experience conflict in society.
    -Gender- Hillman- Boys and girls have different experiences of childhood due to gender role socialisation
    -Ethnicity- Brannan- EMGs will have different expectations of their children
    -Class- Woodroffe- W/C mothers are more likely to give birth to children of lower birth rate leading to delayed physical and mental development.
