  • Describe, in detail, the key political features of the world power you have studied
    1. The president is also known as the executive branch of goverment. He runs the government and spends the money given to him by congress.for example, when Joe Biden was president he spent the most money on welfare then any other.
    2. An important part of the constitution is called the bill of rights. This is a list of rights that the American people have, no part of the government can take away. For example, the right to “ bear arms” is protected
  • Explain, in detail, ways that people in the world power you have studied can participate in politics (1)
    1. citizens have the right to protest. A protest is where a group of people come together to say there is a big problem. for example, the “ black lives matter” protest against racism
    2. Americans can join a political party. They can help their favourite party win an election by handing out leaflets. For example, the two main parties are the republicans and the democrats
  • Explain, in detail, the ways that people in the world power you have studied can participate in politics (2)
    1. One way that Americans can participate is to vote during elections. This is when a person chooses a leader to run their country. For example, donald trump was voted in for president in the 2024 election.
  • Explain, in detail, why some groups of people are less likely to participate in politics (1)
    1. some African Americans face racism in politics. white voters do not want to vote for them and there are rules that can stop them from voting. for example, there is a ban on ex-prisoners voting and African Americans are more likely to get arrested
    2. it’s very expensive to stand as a candidate. A candidate has a better chance of winning if they have rich donors. for example, in 2020 the candidates spent $14 billion trying to become president.

    1. There are not many models for women or minoritie. They do not think that they can make a difference or be successful because most politicians are rich, white, men. For example, there have been 46 presidents of the USA and only one of them has been of an ethnic minority and none have been female.
