• through propaganda, hitler used jews, communists and socialists to blame them for Germany's problems- scapegoats
• he offered solutions to Germany's problems making him look like a strong leader and giving people hope- he gave solutions in his speeches (he was able to convince/manipulate germans due to their desperation)
