• Experiment 2: The second experiment involved 150 participants, who also watched a film of a car accident. Afterward, they were divided into three groups. One group was asked a critical question using the verb smashed, another group was asked the question with the verb hit, and the third group was not asked about speed at all (control group).
• One week later, without re-watching the film, all participants were asked a new critical question: "Did you see any broken glass?" There was no broken glass in the film, making this question a test of false memory.
