mitosis and cell cycle

Cards (6)

  • cell cycle
    -growth
    -DNA replication + mitosis
    -division
  • 1 ) growth
    -cell grows in size
-increases the number of subcellar structures it contains, such as mitocondria and ribosomes
  • 2 ) DNA replicated and mitosis
-each cell made has a full set of DNA
  • chromanones
-called a "Pair", one from mother and one from father. Humans have 23 pairs of chromanones (46 total)
  • preparing for division
-DNA condenses into chromanones (collied up packets of DNA)
-each chromanone gets duplicated, duplicate stays attached to the original
-genetic material must divide to each side of the cell for division to take place
  • 3 ) division
-cell membrane and cytoplasm pull apart forming two daughter cells
-each cell has same DNA "identical" to parent cell started off with
-these two daughter cells ca then help growth, development and repair
-these will start the cell cycle all over again
