Evaluation of Goering's four year plan

• failed to achieve self-sufficiency as germany still reliant on 1/3 of its raw material imports by 1939
• some success in rearming the nation- in 1935: 500,000 troops in the army. 1939: 3,000,000 troops
• some success in reducing unemployment as most men worked in rearmament industries or were conscripted BUT women were not put into the workforce when WW2 began, nor did they effectively use prisoners of war
• failed to increase synthetic fibre production as it was too expensive
• also, hitler starting the war one year earlier than planned meant targets were not met and the economy was underprepared
