  • What is PEFR & what does it measure?
    Peak expiratory flow rate - this is sued to measure how well a patient's asthma is controlled.
  • How do you use a PEFR metre?
    • Stand/sit upright
    • Set to 0
    • Hold metre parallel to floor & create a seal around the mouthpiece with lips
    • Take deepest breath possible
    • Exhale forcefully & quickly
    • Repeat 2x
  • What units is peak flow measured in?
    Liters per minute
  • What is the normal range for peak flow values?
    400-700 L/min
  • What is BMI & what does it measure?
    Body mass index - measuring weight & height.

    Height - m
