The Dermis

• The Dermis is a type of connective tissue which is a non epidermis type of tissue that connects thing together in the body.
• There are blood vessels found in the dermis
• Sweat glands, hair follicles and nerves are found in the dermis
• The dermis has fibres of two types of proteins:

  • Collagen - providing support
  • Elastin - gives elasticity

  These proteins are made by specialised cells called fibroblasts
