  • pre attachment is from birth to 6 weeks
  • infants show crying grasping and cuddling toward adults avalible
  • in the pre attachment phase adults are attractive to infantas and face like stimuli bring out more attention from infants
  • attachment in the making from 6 weeks to 8 months this is the second stage
  • babies start to recognise the differences between familiar sound and faces
  • they develop expectations form caregivers which result in 2 types of behaviour: compliance and resistance like crying brings out a comforting reaction
  • at attachment in the making they have not developed cognitive concepts so they do not protest when they are separated from their caregivers
  • the clear cut attachment phase is from 8 months to 2 years
  • person permeance becomes established and the attachment to the caregiver becomes evident
  • infants are now responsible for maintenance proximity
  • and show separation anxiety between 6-15 months
