    this means that the police aim to keep the public safe by foot patrols, cars and bikes. this shows the police are effective as they can find dangerous criminals who then get locked up away from the public. for example by arresting aaron campbell, the murderer of alesha macphail police have stopped a psychopath from harming other.

    This is because the police can detect people they suspect of carrying offensive weapons, stolen goods or illegal drugs before causing further harm. This shows the police can be effective as they can prevent people from committing crimes. For example, in 2021/22, there were 30,807 stop and searches in Scotland
