Base complementarity

• what does the anticodon on the tRNA determine?

  • it determines which amino acid the tRNA molecule carries
  • e.g. if the base sequence of the anticodon is CCC, the amino acid glycine will attach to the tRNA molecule - this CCC anticodon base pairs with codon GGG on the mRNA - the GGG on the mRNA is complimentary to a CCC sequence on the DNA
