  • Challenged Galen's ideas as the Church had less power
  • Wrote a book on anatomy called 'Fabrica'
  • He stated the jawbone was only 1 bone
  • He faced opposition because people still believed in Galen's ideas
• William Harvey (1600s)

  • Stated that blood was not made in the liver, as Galen believed
  • He showed that blood circulated around the body in one direction and was pumped by the heart
  • He wrote a book called 'On the Motion of the Heart"
