Conclusions

• concluded circumstance in which partic found themselves that amalgamated to create a situation in which it proved difficult to disobey
• 13 elements in situation of study that contributed to these levels of obedience:

  • yale uni prestigious
  • partic assumed experimenter professional & knew what he was doing so instructions should be followed
  • didn't wish to disrupt study as they volunteered (& got paid)
  • novel situation - partic don't know how to behave
  • assumed discomfort cause to learner minimal & temporary
