• the different types of LTM- episodic, semantic, procedural
• episodic memory- refers to the ability to recall events from our lives. these memories are time-stamped and are explicit meaning we have to consciously retrieve it
• semantic memories- this store contains our knowledge of the world e.g facts. these memories aren't time stamped but they are explicit so require conscious retrieval
• procedural- our memory for actions, skills/how we do things. we can do this without conscious retrieval
