Nervous system

    Cards (5)

    • The Human Nervous System
A system of nerve cells that collects information from the world, processes this info and then takes action by directing body organs & muscles via transmission of electro chemical messages. The Human nervous system is broken down into two parts: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS)
    • The Central Nervous System
This contains complex processing and manages everything the body does, from emotions, thoughts to movement. This includes the Brain and the Spinal cord
    • Brain
      > Controls all body function. Involved in all conscious processing and most unconscious precessing
      Spinal Cord
      > Carries messages back and forth between brain and nerves that run throughout our body
    • The CNS main function is to collect information from your sensory nerves to process and respond to them. It regulates everything our body does.
    • Peripheral Nervous System
A network of nerves that run throughout the head, neck and body.It carries messages to and from the CNS.
Its main function is to relay messages (nerve impulses) from the CNS (brain & spinal cord) to the rest of the body. Sensory division (afferent) of the PNS carries sensory information from the environment to the CNS and the motor division (efferent) of the PNS carries impulses from CNS to muscles and glands throughout the body. PNS consists of two main components: the Somatic Nervous System (SNS) and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS).
