Attach metre rule+spring(top of spring at 0 on metre rule)
bottom of spring has wooden splint attached as a pointer
Read position of pointer on metre rule-> unstretched length of spring
Hang 1 newton weight on spring-> read position then continue adding 1 N weights to spring and read
Calculate extension -> subtract length of unstretched spring from each reading
