    • What is social change?
      Social change is the alteration of the social order of a society which may include changes in social institutions, social behaviours or social relations.
    • How would social change happen using normative social influence/compliance?
      Group norms can be used, once a group norm is created, people who go against this norm risk rejection from the group/are less likely to fit in
    • How would social change happen using informational social influence/internalisation?
      If evidence is presented in favour of a particular view, people will change their beliefs/behaviour to gain knowledge and be right
    • How would social change happen using explanations of obedience?
      Law changes mean that people will need to obey legitimate authority (the government) or they risk being punished
    • How would social change happen using consistency?
      A minority must be stable in their opinion over time and there must be agreement among the members of the minority.
    • How would social change happen using commitment?
      A minority must be dedicated to their cause. The greater their dedication, the greater their influence. This should involve some kind of personal sacrifice.

      Although a minority must be consistent, they must show a willingness to compromise when expressing their opinions.
