  specialised network of cells and our primary communication system, endocrine system is based on hormones
• Two main functions

  • To collect, process and respond to information in the environment
  • to co ordinate the working of different organs of the body
• The structure and function of the nervous system

  • made up of brain and spinal cord
  • our cerebral cortex is what distinguishes our mental processes with animals because its highly developed in us
  • the brain is divided into two hemispheres
  • the spinal cord is an extension of the brain and responsible for reflex actions
  • connects nerves to the pNS and passes messages from and to yhr brain
• the structure of the peripheral nervous system (Autonomic nervous system)

  controls vital functions in the body like breathing, digestions, sexual arousal and stress responses
• Somatic nervous system


  Governs muscle movement and recieves information from sensory receptors
