sensory memory on last for 0.5 to two seconds and has a large capacity it encodes information depedning on the senses involved
short term memory is the capacity for holding a small amount of infoormation
stm holds info for 0 -30 seconds can hold 7 itemsplus or minus 2 and encodes information through sound
long term memory is where informative information is held
it has unlimitedduration, unlimited capacity and encodes information semantically
the glanzer anad cuntiz serial psotion effect is a strengh of the mm
this is because the primary effect is shown as words from the beiggning of the list are more likely to be recalled as a result of the primaryeffect and how the words are rehearsed and transferred into the ltm
the recency affect is also another strength as word at the end of the list are more likely to be recalled as they are held in the stm
delayed recall is also shown as the rencyaffect disappears becasue informtaion form the stm is decayed but the primary affect remains the same
patients with amnesia aslso stregnehn the atkison and shifrin model as their hippocampus is removed to cure epilepsy they couldnt reemember events and they had a normally funtioning stm but couldnt make any newmemories
