what places are acids present in
everywhere; also in many foods, doesn't mean acids aren't harmful
how can you tell if a food has acid in it
it will taste sour; e.g. citric acid
how can you tell if something has an alkali in it
it feels soapy; they can also be found in food and can taste bitter
what is an acid
a substance that when disassociated in water, it gives an hydrogen ion (H+)
what is an ion
a charged particle / atom and is created from an element or compound
what is an alkali
a substance the when disassociated in water, gives a hydroxide ion (OH-)
what is the word equation of the disassociation of acid (H+)
hydrochloric acid → hydrogen ion + chloride ion

an indicator is a substance which changes colour in the presence of particular substance
