    • Religious imagery- 'damned' - strikes fear into the audience as it reinforces the idea of hell and eternal suffering.

    • As a [taper] provides light, this is emblematic of how LM is seeking light, hope & solace in her eternal mental darkness.
    • Jesus was seen to be the 'light' of the world, providing salvation for mankind, therefore LM's dependancy on the light could illuminate how she is hopeful for salvation & retribution for her sins.
