Meiosis

• meiosis only takes place in reproductive organs (testes and ovaries)
• stages of meiosis

  1 - all chromosomes are copied (in pairs)

  2 - then the cells divide into 2

  3 - now these cells divide forming gametes
• meiosis halves the number of chromosmes
• meiosis produces 4 gametes from one cell, they are each genetically different with different alleles
