  • Internal change refers to change that occur within a business
  • For example, internal change could involve the introduction of technology, the decision to reward schemes, changes to the organisational structure, or changes to new owners or new leaders
  • External change refers to changes in the external environment of a business or its competitive environment, these changes, in turn, have consequences for and lead to subsequent changes in, a business
  • Incremental change is small adjustments made, usually over a long period of time, towards a desired end result; it usually does not alter current working practices in a significant way
  • Disruptive change is an irreversible change to products, processes and markets, a change that alters the future completely from what was expected before the change
