p =m/v. Wherre density is p, in kilograms per metre cubed, kg/m^3.
mass, m, in kg. volume, V, in metres cubed
What is density like in solids and liquids?
It is very similar as the space between particles doesn't change significantly.
Usually liquids have a lower density than solids
What is density like in gases?
gases have a far lower density than the other states. The spacing between atoms increase x10, as the particles have lots of energy to move, so volume increases greatly and therefore density decreases greatly compared to solids/iquids
