Oxidative phosphorylation

Cards (2)

  • Where does oxidative phosphorylation take place?
    Mitochrondrial membrane
  • Describe oxidative phosphorylation
    • Hydrogen ions from FADH and NADH are split into protons and electrons
    • Electrons travel down electron transport chain. Energy released causes a proton gradient to form between the matrix and intermembrane space
    • Energy released causes ADP and phosphate to react to form ATP. (Catalysed by ATP synthase)
