Views of childhood

• How might childhood be influenced?

  1. Social Policies- Education Acts have taken children out of the workplace to attend school, with age restrictions on movies
  2. Increased Expectancy- Decreased child mortality rate, older parents, relationships with parents can also be a lot closer- Parents feel more comfortable forming attachments
  3. Changes in male roles & women working- more father involvement in the home- taking up the expressive role, women working, maternity leave for women
  4. Delaying having children- smaller families, parents more likely to stay together, more financial support present
