    • An experimental hypothesis is a clear guess.
    • Hypotheses are not written in past tense.
    • Hypotheses are used in ALL research methods.
    • With anything other than an experiment - experimental hypotheses is called a alternative hypothesis.
    • Null hypothesis - no difference in dependent variable between independent variable + independent variable
    • Simply states that the independent variable will not affect the dependant variable.
    • Experimental/alternative hypothesis may be one tailed (directional) or two tailed (non-directional)
    • Directional hypothesis - predict the affect of the IV on the DV
    • Non-directional hypothesis - states there will be an effect but won't state the direction
