Mr Bingley and Darcy arriving in Longbourn. It is known before Mr Bingley even arrives that he is rich and single showing that word and rumours circulate quickly.

The first thing that is noticed about Darcy is his wealth and large fortune, and he already seems to have a reputation very shortly after arriving in Meryton.
Pemberley: Miss Bingley spreads rumours about Darcy’s grand house, although these turn out to be true later in the novel.
